2023 was the the year I had my first solo exhibition in South Korea and it also happened to be the Year of the Black Rabbit. Although the Year of the Rabbit comes around every 12 years, the year 2023 paired the rabbit with the water element, symbolising the colour black in the Chinese zodiac. This unique combination only occurs once every 60 years, so considering I might not not be here in 60 years (unless I live to 103!) I decided to honour that special year with a painting. The last Year of the Black Rabbit happened in 1963.
People born in the year of the rabbit are thought to be idealists, sentimental, quick-witted and are said to show particular talent in art and entertainment. At their best, they are also quick to grasp the situation at hand and able to nimbly overcome their hardships.
Although Rabbit people easily get along well with many people, at their core they are considered to be reserved creatures, and gain a sense of fulfillment when engrossed in some sort of intellectual activity.
Rabbit people are said to place lots of emphasis on small details. They pay close attention to everything from colour, design and furniture to food and conversation. And only when they are certain that everything has been arranged as they please, can these people relax and have fun. As calm as they may be, it is not easy to provoke them. If you were born in 2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963, 1951, and 1939 you were born in the year of the rabbit.

Framing Options
Elevate your artwork with an elegant, modern floater frame. Crafted from 4cm deep solid oak or renewable hardwood, these frames create a sophisticated visual gap, making the canvas appear to float effortlessly within the frame.
• Available Finishes: Natural Oak, Dark Oak, Classic White, and Sleek Black.
• Wall Protection: Rubber bumpers are pre-attached to shield your walls and keep your artwork perfectly level.
The floating frame has a 5mm gap between the canvas and the frame and is 1cm in thickness; this adds around 1.5 inch to the overall size of the frame.
